Pre-Test Preparation
For most of the laboratory tests that you might be asked to undergo, special preparation is not required of you. However, in certain circumstances, you might be requested to satisfy specific pre-test obligations. This ensures the integrity of the specimen collected, as well as the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Where special preparatory requirements exist, your doctor will inform you. In instances when you need to fast prior to a test, you will be particularly instructed on what to abstain and the duration of this abstinence. Some blood tests require that you fast for 8 to 12 hours.
Unless advised otherwise, you should always continue taking your medication. Please contact your doctor if you need any clarification on pre-test preparation.
