Micro Identification
Microbial identification is the characterization of a microorganism using the appropriate methodology to identify, isolate information and perform strain characterization.
Our Eurofins network supports the most comprehensive microbial identification for environmental isolates to identify bacteria and yeasts and moulds. Our network of ISO 17025 accredited microbiology laboratories use state-of-the-art phenotypic (biochemical, serological, MALDI-TOF) and genotypic methods (16S rRNA Gene Long Sequencing) for bacteria and 25S rRNA Gene or ITS1/ITS2 Partial for fungi to genus and species level identification. We also support conventional scientific processes to identify a bacteria's family – through serotyping.
Identification by Eurofins IDmyk Comparative Sequencing
Eurofins IDmyk library consists of >8,420 bacterial entries for the type strains of each species and >1,650 for fungi. The Organism Identification is by Gene Sequencing (bacterial double stranded technique).
- Eurofins IDmyk Comparative Sequencing (Unilocus) – 16S, Long
Sequence (Bacteria, Probiotics); 25S, (Yeast & Mould).
Maldi-TOF Identification of Microbial Isolates
For Maldi-TOF MS identification, the system identifies an unknown organism by comparing the characteristics of the obtained spectrum to the MALDI-TOF MS knowledge base. The software compares the obtained spectrum to peak weights defined for each claimed species.
